A lasting memory

Photographs have immense sentimental value and will be treasured for years to come. Don't forget that even with your best make up and gown on, your best moments may not be captured because of your photographer, or lack of a professional photographer.

Photography is art, there is so much more to taking a shot than you might first think. It involves creativity. Talented photographers may take between 100-1000 pictures during your big day to ensure that every visual moment is captured. These such opportunities are easily missed by amateurs. Traditionally photographers will place you into position to take a 'say cheese everyone' shot, but more frequently, they will take shots of the moment, as things happen during the day.

Choosing the right photographer is of real importance. Go with your instincts and always use the services of someone you are entirely comfortable - after all this is your special day, and they too will be sharing it with you. Building a rapport with the photographer before the big day is important, make sure they know what your expectations are, and allow them to explain the process and how they will be proceeding on the day. That way you can discuss any issues or concerns you have before the big day.

Things to think about:

  • Do you want a pre wedding shoot? These will take place a couple of weeks before in an informal setting and are usually only of the couple.
  • Do you want your photographer taking abstract images as the day unfolds...avoiding the more traditional 'say cheese' shots?
  • Do you want to host a 'trash the day' shoot, after the big day, these are fun and fashionable shots in unusual settings?
